Honey Garlic Shrimp Skewers (Printable version)

Tender shrimp coated in a sweet honey garlic glaze, grilled on skewers.

# What You'll Need:

→ Seafood

01 - 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off as preferred)

→ Marinade

02 - 1/4 cup honey
03 - 3 tbsp soy sauce (use gluten-free if needed)
04 - 3 cloves garlic, minced
05 - 1 1/2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
06 - 2 tbsp olive oil
07 - 1/2 tsp black pepper
08 - 1/4 tsp salt
09 - 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

→ Garnish

10 - 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
11 - Lemon wedges (for serving)

# How to Prepare:

01 - In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using).
02 - Add shrimp to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 15–30 minutes (do not exceed 1 hour, or the acid may toughen the shrimp).
03 - If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 20 minutes to prevent burning.
04 - Thread marinated shrimp onto skewers.
05 - Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates.
06 - Grill skewers for 2–4 minutes per side, or until shrimp are pink, opaque, and lightly charred at the edges.
07 - Transfer to a platter. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The sweet and savory glaze is a delightful surprise that elevates your shrimp game.
  • Grilling brings out a smoky flavor that soothes the soul, perfect for summer gatherings or cozy dinners.
02 -
  • Don’t marinate the shrimp for more than an hour—trust me, I've learned this the hard way!
  • Reserve some marinade before adding the shrimp to brush over them while grilling for an extra flavor boost.
03 -
  • Pat the shrimp dry before marinating to help the flavors stick.
  • Experiment with different marinades like teriyaki or a citrus basil blend for variety.
